Master David Garrison

Master David Garrison is a 35 year veteran of the martial arts and has studied Kyu Ki Do, Karate, Judo / Jiu Jitsu, Hapki Do, and Kung Fu. Through his years as a competitor and demonstrator, he has become one of the most respected Masters in America. His unique ability to teach complicated techniques to his students is a key factor in their ability to excel in competitions, as well as everyday life.
Master Garrison has become one of the most sought after Kyu Ki Do instructors in the world, well know for his unique prowess in weapons. He was awarded Kyu Ki Do Black Belt Man of the Year '96, Hapki Do instructor of the Year 2007, and in 2008 Master Garrison was inducted into the USA Martial Arts “Hall of Fame". Master Garrison has trained and competed in both the USA and ASIA.
He is currently a 6th Degree Master Level Black Belt in Kyu Ki Do, and 5th Degree Master in Hapkido.

Holly Zastrow

Holly is a senior instructor with TMA and possesses over 16 years in martial arts. She currently holds rank of 3rd degree black belt in Kyu Ki Do, and 1st degree black belt in Hapki Do. She has been an outstanding role model at TMA with many awards in competition including grand champion black belt in traditional weapons. Holly is an accomplished instructor of self-defense techniques and uses her skills to better influence students in their journey to success.
Holly is a certified dietary consultant and received her certification from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts. Holly can address such issues as dieting and lifestyle changes, herbal support, exercise needs, and working with individuals to customize their nutritional choices. Holly helps people to understand the importance of nutrition and influences students to be healthier through both martial arts and eating well.
Master Craig Hutson - TMA Advisory Instructor

Master Craig Hutson is a 35 year veteran of the martial arts and has studied Kyu Ki Do, Karate, Judo / Jiu Jitsu, and Hapki Do. In Master Hutson's 35 years of training he has come to believe in integrity (being true to one's word) and teaching students the value of honesty and hard work. In keeping with the idea of training other disciplines, Master Hutson received his 3rd Degree Black Belt in Judo / Jiu Jitsu in 2002 and his 2nd Degree Black Belt in Hapki Do in 2007. He is currently a 6th Degree Master Level Black Belt in Kyu Ki Do (2006).
Master Hutson has received many awards, to name a few of those: Kyu Ki Do Significant Contribution, Black Belt Man of the Year, Outstanding Breaking Technician and Most Dedicated Award.
Master Hutson also believes in "Humility” as a guiding principle in his life."
Dr. Sam Chin - TMA Advisory Instructor - Kung Fu
Doctor Sam Chin is a 40+ year veteran of the martial arts with focus in various styles of Chinese KUNG FU. His recent studies include 15 years training in North Shaolin Kung Fu and studied under the Grand Master, Bing-Cheng Chin. Dr. Chin was also assistant instructor for the North Shaolin Academy, located in Ft Lauderdale, FL. His proficiencies also include North Shaolin - Long Fist Katas, Chi-Quing and weaponry expertise with staff, spear, single broad sword, double broad sword, double daggers, 3-section staff, walking cane and horse blade.
Dr. Chin is also a recognized Acupuncturist and Chiropractor specializing in spinal alignment, acupuncture and Chinese medicine. He recently celebrated his 30th anniversary of practice at his Schaumburg and Rockford, Illinois locations.
Dr. Chin believes that we can accomplish anything through discipline and good health.
Logan Taylor Lee Garrison - Instructor

How old were you when you started training in Kyu Ki Do?
4 years old
Why did you get started at TMA?
Because of Dad. I fell in love with MMA training in High school.
What is your current rank?
Logan’s current rank is a black stripe in Kyu Ki Do, and he excels at high level training for endurance. His expertise in sparring, grappling, and weapons has come in handy with the Marines.
What was the most difficult thing that you learned along the way?
Logan enjoys teaching Boxing as he is highly skilled with his hands. Sparring with professional kickboxers and holding his own was quite a challenge.
When did you start competing?
At the Kyu Ki Do Midwest Championship 1996 Fall Tournament.
He was a yellow belt.
What was your most significant win and why?
Many of the competitions that Logan entered resulted in 1st place finishes, but his undefeated streak in Marine boot camp over his entire division in pugle stick fighting was quite a rare feat according to the D.I.’s.(416 solders)

How old were you when you started training in Kyu Ki Do?
15 years old
Why did you get started at TMA?
Always had an interest in martial arts and liked the diverse programs that TMA had to offer. Because of his asthma he was particurly interested in the Chi breathing to help him go off medications and improve overall health.
What is your current rank?
1st Degree Black Belt. He excels at tournament competition. His expertise in sparring, forms, grappling, breaking, and weapons show the diversity that he has learned through TMA training.
What was the most difficult thing that you learned along the way?
Dean enjoys teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo / Jiu Jitsu and said learning to control your opponent’s weight and direction was difficult.
When did you start competing?
At the Kyu Ki Do Midwest Championship 2006 Spring Tournament.
He was a yellow belt.
What was your most significant win and why?
Probably up in Janesville, he was a Brown belt and after receiving 1st place finish in both sparring, and weapons. Grandmaster Kim praised his skill, and said; “you must be one of Master Garrison’s students”.
How do you feel about your upcoming Black Belt?
Becoming a Black Belt is certainly a great honor, but with it comes much responsibility. When you become a Black Belt, the reputation of your Instructor, your school, the art, and, most importantly, yourself, all depend on your good behavior. You will have accomplished something great, and people will try to copy your behavior. Accordingly, you must act in a responsible and respectable manner at all times.
